Diversity of livestock systems and definition of animal welfare
Network for Animal Health and Welfare in Organic Agriculture (NAHWOA) is a Concerted Action Project funded by the European Commission. The main aim of the project is to provide a joint platform for research organisations and institutions involved in organic livestock production, to enable sharing of information and ideas along with development of new research priorities, and to analyse the conventional research methodologies and their suitability to organic livestock research. Τhe project has as a goal to create a forum for an on-going discussion on animal health and welfare of organic livestock production. The Network has 17 member organisations from 13 European countries.

This article provide information about organic animal production, certification, production standards, animal health, housing and husbandry, feeding and organic livestock production systems.
 
Does organic farming face distinctive livestock welfare issues?-a conceptual analysis
This paper provide different definitions on animal welfare and deals with the possibility for objective measures of animal welfare and the acceptable level of welfare.The main question investigated here is whether the values that underpin organic farming affect the interpretation of livestock welfare and, if so, how.
 
Finishing pigs: conversion is more than respecting the standards
The objective of this project is the description of the organic pig finishing, the analysis of the most frequently encountered problems related to their conversion into organic pigs and the development of strategies that will help to overcome these problems.
 
Manual about organic animal husbandry
This manual describes the practical conversion of organic animal husbandry on the basis of the requirements of the EU - Regulation 2092/91.
